It ain’t new (well it is to us because we were obviously asleep with our heads in the beach sand when it came out last year), but with summer fast approaching this little ditty from Fabienne has definitely put us well in the mood for some suns out guns out action.
Maximum props to the mighty Mavinga at Really Studio for the rather excellent video too – check it.
14 May 2015 marked a very sad day for music as we learned of the passing of one of the industry’s true, true greats, blues guitar pioneer B.B. King.
His style influenced so many that we hear today and have over the past six decades, and there’s no doubt this will continue to be the case for many years to come.
Rest In Peace Riley B. King 16/09/25 – 14/05/15.
This Saturday night sees DV’s first of two outings to Benji B’s residency at London club XOYO. We can’t blooming wait! Alongside the man himself on the bill this week are:
One time mentor and legend of the scene Gilles Peterson will be bringing his global flavours to the dance floor. A taster for the summer music season ahead when DV will also be heading to France for his Worldwide Festival.
The mysterious French DJ with a varied musical background (he’s played in jazz, funk and hip hop crews). Expect an education in house from a true innovator.
Hailed as “your favourite DJ’s favourite DJ” by Fact Magazine, Jon K has been keeping the Manchester scene ticking with the Hoya:Hoya night taking place at the awesome Roadhouse that will sadly shut down at the end of this month.
We took a bit of a break during 2014, but are back and swinging like Mayweather again now. What that meant is we didn’t keep you as up to speed as we’d like on the hot hitters of the year. Here’s a run down of our favourites.
Royce Wood Junior – Midnight
Sublime vocals, one for a late night wind down. Bonus points for naming the TV stars of yesteryear in the video.
Leon Vynehall – Christ Air
We blogged about the album, this is the choice cut – beautiful.
Protoje – Who Knows feat. Chronixx
If this doesn’t make you want to head to Jamaica then there’s clearly something wrong with you. YEAH, OKAY!!!
Skepta – That’s Not Me
Guaranteed to shutdown any dance floor (listen to the follow up single). Skepta came through big in 2014.
Yeah you know this track, it started life as Isaac Hayes – Ike’s Rap II, revived by Portishead in their seminal track Glory Box and Tricky’s Hell Is Round The Corner.
18 year old Alessia Caracciolo from Ontario, Canada gives it her own spin and boy does this give you the shivers. Haunting stuff from a hot young talent.
