Powerhouse musical combo Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum, known to you and I as JETS, have pulled a cracker out the bag with their “The Chants” EP.
DV’s choice track is U-N-I, a link up with Cambridgeshire’s (yes he was born in Huntington people) Jamie Lidell. Enjoy…
It ain’t new (well it is to us because we were obviously asleep with our heads in the beach sand when it came out last year), but with summer fast approaching this little ditty from Fabienne has definitely put us well in the mood for some suns out guns out action.
Maximum props to the mighty Mavinga at Really Studio for the rather excellent video too – check it.
Yeah you know this track, it started life as Isaac Hayes – Ike’s Rap II, revived by Portishead in their seminal track Glory Box and Tricky’s Hell Is Round The Corner.
18 year old Alessia Caracciolo from Ontario, Canada gives it her own spin and boy does this give you the shivers. Haunting stuff from a hot young talent.
Stalwarts of the UK reggae scene, Mungo’s Hi Fi from Glasgow, have shaken me to the core with their new track Society. Featuring the vocal talents of Charlie P, this is one of a number of big bass bangers on their new album – You See Me Star.
This track took me back ten years to some good dubbing times during my early outings in London. Hopefully we’ll be hearing it a lot more this summer as the outdoor party season kicks off.
A new one on me, Maths Time Joy makes some rousing, sensual sounds and the new EP – Sanctuary is no exception. Think vocals from Inc, horn stabs and guitar riffage a la Jai Paul with poppy twiddles from AlunaGeorge.
Pick of the tracks for me is After Hours feat. Flores but Cerulean is worth a listen too.
