Jaymes Young – Feel Something

#Debut #Album #Review For those of you out there who enjoy a pitched and warped backing vocal, half time drums and explorations in synthesis in an alt-pop world, you’re going to lap this one up

It is very nearly time for the release of US singer-songwriter Jaymes Young’s debut album ‘Feel Something’ to drop. We got a sneaky peak and were swept away by the strength of the song craft and rich blend of modern production styles.

For those of you out there who enjoy a pitched and warped backing vocal, half time drums and explorations in synthesis in an alt-pop world, you’re going to lap this one up. At the same time you’ve also got more organic elements like the the piano beds that underlie tracks such as ‘Black Magic’ and ‘Naked’, or the guitar and strings of ‘I’ll Be Good’.

Vocally, Young is clear and precise with his annunciation. The words are softly delivered, enthralling and loaded with an unavoidable emotion. It’s a fine debut offering and one that will no doubt open the door for him to a whole new troop of fans.

Jaymes Young ‘Feel Something’ is out 23 June. You can pre-order your copy here.
